Everest Base Camp Gokyo and Renjo Pass Itinerary

Day 01: Fly from hometown

Day 02: Transit in route

Day 03: Arrive in Kathmandu

  • After your arrival at Kathmandu Airport, we will pick you up and check you in at the Yak and Yeti Hotel, which is centrally located in Kathmandu. In the evening, we will conduct gear checks and orientation.

Day 04: City tour around Kathmandu

  • After breakfast, we will visit various famous landmarks, which include the Buddhist stupa Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Boudhanath, and the Hindu temple and cremation center, Pashupatinath. After lunch, there will be some time for last-minute shopping, followed by a welcome dinner.

Day 05: Fly to Lukla and trek to Phakding (8,563 ft.)

  • We will wake up early in the morning and take a flight to Lukla using a Twin Otter airplane, situated at an elevation of 9,318 feet. Upon arriving in Lukla, we will meet our Sherpas, staff, and porters, and commence our trek to Everest Base Camp. Our first leg of the journey will take us to Phakding, which is a relatively easy hike.

  • Elevation loss: 755 ft

Day 06: Trek to Namche Bazaar (11,286 ft.)

  • Starting from Phakding, we will embark on our hike along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several high suspension bridges, and ascend to an elevation of 2,723 feet, reaching Namche Bazaar, the bustling trading center of the Khumbu region. Every Saturday, Tibetan and Nepali traders come here to exchange their goods at the market. Namche Bazaar is also the gateway to the Himalayas and is renowned for the breathtaking views it offers.

  • Distance: 7.4 km/6.8 Miles

  • Elevation gain: 2,723 Ft

Day 07: Rest at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization

  • After breakfast, we will embark on an acclimatization hike to Hotel Everest View, situated at an elevation of 12,730 feet (3,880 meters), which involves gaining about 1,700 feet above Namche. From this vantage point, we will enjoy magnificent views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and many other neighboring peaks. In the afternoon, we will explore the vibrant Namche market.

  • Elevation gain: 1,440 ft.

Day 08: Trek to Pangboche  (13,074 ft.)

  • After an early breakfast in Namche Bazaar (3,440 m), the trail follows a gradual ascent along the mountainside with spectacular views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and other Himalayan peaks. The route passes through the villages of Kyangjuma and Sanasa before descending to the riverside at Phunki thangan, from here the path gently climbs and descends through alpine forests and traditional Sherpa villages before reaching Tengboche.

  • Enjoy lunch at Tengboche, the largest and most important Buddhist monastery in the Everest region. Surrounded by magnificent Himalayan peaks, the monastery is renowned for its peaceful atmosphere, beautiful murals, and spiritual significance to the Sherpa community. If time permits, you may have the opportunity to observe monks performing their daily prayers.

  • After lunch, continue with a gentle descent through rhododendron forests, cross the Imja Khola, and make a gradual climb to the traditional Sherpa village of Pangboche (3,985 m). Home to one of the oldest monasteries in the Khumbu region, Pangboche offers spectacular views of the iconic Ama Dablam.

  • Time: 5–6 hours

  • Distance: Approximately 10–11 km (6–7 miles)

  • Elevation Gain: 1,788 ft

Day 09: Trek to Dingboche 14,469 ft 

  • Today's trek takes you from the traditional Sherpa village of Pangboche to the beautiful alpine settlement of Dingboche. The trail gradually ascends through open yak pastures, stone-walled fields, and spectacular Himalayan scenery. After crossing the Imja Khola, the route climbs steadily to Dingboche, offering magnificent views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Island Peak, and other surrounding peaks.Once we arrive in Dingboche we will have leisurely afternoon and enjoy panoramic mountain views while preparing for higher altitude.

  • Time: 3–4 hours

  • Distance : Approximately 6 km/3.7 Miles

  • Elevation Gain: Approximately 1,395 ft

Day 10: Rest and acclimatization day

  • We will undertake a hike above Dingboche, aiming to ascend 2,000 feet to Nagarjung Hill. From this vantage point, we will be rewarded with magnificent panoramic views of Lhotse, Island Peak, Tabuche, Cho La, Lobuche Peak, Ama Dablam, Baruntse, and Makalu. Please note that the total time for the hike may extend to 4 to 5 hours, considering rest stops and time spent taking in the breathtaking scenery.

  • Time: 3 hours round trip

  • Distance: 5.15 km/3.2 Miles

  • Elevation gain: 2,000 ft.

Day 11: Trek to Lobuche (16,174 ft.)

  • From Dingboche, we will head to Lobuche. Our trek begins pretty easy to Thukla, then after about 40 minutes of uphill, we will reach the plateau where we will see many of the sherpa memorial including Scott fisher and many others non-sherpa climbers.

  • Time: 5 hours

  • Distance: 8.4 km/5.2 Miles

  • Elevationgain: 1,705 ft.

Day 12: Trek to Gorak Shep & Everest Base Camp (16,942 ft)

  • From Lobuche, the trail to Gorak shep winds through the glacial moraine. At Gorak Shep 16,814ft, we will have our lunch. If the weather allows, we will be hiking to Everest base camp  and back to Gorak Shep and spend the night.

  • Time: 5 to 6 Hours

  • Distance: 9.5km/5.9 miles

  • Elevation gain: 1,486 ft.

Day 13: Kalaphathar back to Dzonglha (4,830 m / 15,846 ft)

  • We will begin our day with an early morning departure to climb up to the summit of Kala Patthar 18,519ft.where we'll witness the sunrise over Everest. The ascent will take approximately 3 hours. After enjoying the incredible sunrise view, we'll descend to Gorak Shep for breakfast. Following our meal, we will continue our journey to Dzonglha beneath the towering west face of Cholatse..

Day 14: Over the chola pass to Dragnag (15,420 ft)

  • Today is set to be a challenging day as we ascend to Chola Pass at an elevation of 17,782 feet. Most likely, we will use Microspikes to traverse the glacier on the east side of the pass. This part of the journey will take around 6 to 7 hours. After reaching the pass, we will begin a descent of 2,362 feet, ultimately arriving at Dragnag, covering a

Day 15: Gokyo lake (15,583 ft.)

  • Today's journey will be relatively short. We will cross the Ngozumpa Glacier, known as the largest glacier in the entire Himalaya, before continuing our hike to Gokyo Lake. This portion of the trek will take about 3 hours, and once we arrive at Gokyo Lake, we will have a leisurely afternoon to enjoy the surroundings.

  • Time: 3 Hours

Day 16: Gokyo Ri back to Gokyo 17,575ft 

  • We will embark on a challenging hike up Gokyo Ri, which stands at an elevation of 17,575 feet. The trail ascends steeply above Gokyo Lake, making it a demanding climb. However, the incredible panoramic views from the summit make all the effort worthwhile. At the top, you'll be treated to breathtaking vistas of the surrounding mountains, with Everest majestically towering above them. It's absolutely awe-inspiring, once you've caught your breath!
    After descending from Gokyo Ri, we will return to Gokyo for lunch.

  • Elevation gain: 1965ft 

Day 17: Over Renjo pass to Lungden (14,370 ft)

  • This day will be another long and challenging one as we cross the Renjo Pass, which stands at an elevation of 17,536 feet and  one of the most spectacular and rewarding days of the Everest Three Passes route. Leaving the tranquil shores of Gokyo Lake the trail climbs steadily through rocky alpine terrain toward Renjo La Pass (5,360 m 17,585ft). As the ascent gains height, breathtaking views unfold over the turquoise Gokyo Lakes, the massive Ngozumpa Glacier, and the towering Himalayan peaks.After approximately 3.5 to 4.5 hours of climbing, you reach the summit of Renjo La Pass, one of the finest viewpoints in the Khumbu region. From the pass, enjoy panoramic vistas of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and countless snow-covered peaks stretching across the horizon. Prayer flags flutter in the mountain breeze, creating a memorable Himalayan atmosphere.

  • Following a well-deserved rest at the pass, the trail descends steeply over rocky paths before gradually easing into the peaceful Bhote Koshi Valley. The route passes through yak grazing pastures, glacial streams, and traditional stone shelters, offering a quieter trekking experience away from the busy Everest Base Camp trail.

  • After a long but rewarding descent, the trail reaches the traditional Sherpa village of Lungden (4,380 m), where comfortable teahouses provide a welcome place to rest and recover after crossing one of the highest passes in the Everest region.

  • Time: 6.5–8.5 hours

  • Distance: 17–19 km/10.5–11.8 mi

  • Highest Elevation: 5,360 m (17,585 ft) – Renjo La Pass

Day 18: Trek to Thame 3,820m/12,553ft 

  • Today's trek will be relatively easy, mostly downhill, and will take approximately 3 to 4 hours. Our destination is Thami village, renowned as the home of famous Sherpa climbers.

  • Time: 3 to 4 Hours

Day 19: Trek to Monjoo

  • We will descend along the Bhote Koshi River, passing through beautiful rhododendron and pine forests, and eventually reach Namche Bazaar in time for lunch. Afterward, we will continue our journey to Monjo, located just outside the entrance of the national park, where we will spend the night.

Day 20: Trek to Lukla

Day 21: Fly to Kathmandu

Day 22: Fly back Home

Day 23: Arrive back to home country
